Exploring Faith
Whether you are curious, unsure, or ready to take a step toward God.
Hi there,
If you’ve found your way here because you’re curious about faith, unsure what you believe, or quietly wondering if God is real, I’m so grateful you’re here.
I know what it feels like to have so many questions and so few answers.
Maybe you’re trying to find that “something” you’ve been searching for, the thing that will make you feel truly known. Like someone actually truly knows you and loves you. Like you belong.
Or maybe you’ve tried to fill the void inside of you left by what you’ve experienced in this world. You’ve tried sex, drugs, alcohol, or self-harm. Maybe you’ve done even more than this, but none of these made you feel whole again. It works in that moment, but then afterwards it fades, and you feel just as empty as before.
Maybe you are in a place where you want to believe in something, but don’t even know how or where to start. You don’t know what is real and what is not. Putting your hope in something more feels risky. You’ve always had to rely on yourself. And if you only rely on yourself, then when something doesn’t work out, at least no one else lets you down.
And maybe none of that is your story. Maybe your life hasn’t fallen apart. Maybe you’re not carrying deep wounds or obvious regret. You’re just here because something in you is curious.
If any of this resonates with you, you are in the right place, and I am so truly glad that you have found your way here. Personally, I am not the answer or the thing you are searching for, but I know who is: God.
I have been in similar places to yours, and I can promise you this: Pursuing God has changed my life, and He can change yours, too. You are never too far gone for God. Anything that you have done in your past, things you feel deep shame about, things that might even feel unforgivable, Jesus Christ can cleanse and set you free.
If there’s even a small part of you that is searching, that is enough. God is not intimidated by your questions. He isn’t distant from your doubts. He meets us right in the middle of them.
You are not late. Right here, right now, exactly as you are, is a good place to start.
Starting Your Faith Journey
-
What is Faith?
To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1).
Faith is that simple: to believe.Faith does not mean you will never have questions or doubts. It is choosing to trust who God is, in between all of the unknowns. It's you choosing to trust God in the middle of your questions or doubts.
Rooted Faith
We have faith in what we hope for and cannot see because we know who He is from reading and understanding what the Bible teaches.
It’s okay if you have never read the Bible before; we have all been there, and it can be both daunting and exciting. The best thing to do is simply start.Check out my free resources page for a short guide on starting to read the Bible.

Who is God?
God is the creator of all things (Genesis 1). He is our creator. Through the Bible we learn who He is and the testament of His character. God is not something that is abstract or far away but, He is alive, active and present. God desires for you to know Him as He knows all of your innermost being. Scripture tells us:
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalms 139:13
“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth.” Psalm 145:18
“Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you” Matthew 7:7
God is not far away he is near and He knows you specifically and individually. The Bible tells us:
“And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered” Matthew 10:30
God tells us in Revelation 1:8;
“I am, The Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and was, and who is to come, the Almighty”.
Our God, knows us each individually and desires for us all to have a relationship with Him and know Him. -
Why should we follow God?
We live in a world full of chaos and corruption. We see it everywhere and feel it all around us. We cannot go through a single day without sensing the weight of this broken world. All we have to do is pick up our phone and log into social media, turn on the TV and watch the news, or get in the car and drive around; the list goes on of the many ways we see, feel, and hear of the brokenness of the world we live in.
God tells us that He is our Creator, He is Almighty, He is Lord, He is our Provider, He is our Healer, He is our Peace, He is our Shepherd, He sees everything, and He is the Lord of our Righteousness.
Whether we choose to follow God or not, we get up every day and live in a fallen world, where we see and feel the terrible things that are done. The difference is that when you willingly choose to follow the Lord, you are given His promises of who He is, and when you face difficult circumstances, “you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

Why do we need God?
Salvation. This nine-letter word is the complete answer.
We need God because He offers the one thing no one or nothing else can: our salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.
When we say, “Yes, I need you, God,” we are taking the first step toward the hope and life God offers through Jesus. It’s the beginning of a journey to know Him personally, and it points us toward the story that changes everything: the story of the Gospel.
The Gospel Story
-
The Gospel is the story of Jesus Christ and the good news that he brings. Before we get to the good news, let’s start from the beginning.
God created all things; there is nothing that exists today that God did not create (Genesis 1).
When God created man, He created us in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:27). Adam and Eve were the first to be created. Shortly after creation, mankind fell. God had directed Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, but they did (Genesis 3).
Through this act of disobeying what God had commanded, sin entered the world.
God is Holy and sin separates us from him. We are born sinners (Psalms 58:3).
More often than not, the first time we hear “we are sinners” or “You are born a sinner,” our immediate gut reaction is to pull back and become defensive. We think, no, I am not, or I am a good person. The reality is, though, we are sinners. If you are a parent or have ever been around a young child, you can ask them, “Did you do this?” or “Did you go to the bathroom?” (referring to the fact that they need a diaper change), and the child will immediately say, “No.” Even though you know they did it or you can smell that they need a diaper change.
If this doesn’t resonate with you, maybe it will one day.
What about ourselves? How many times have we been asked if we did something we know we did, and our immediate reaction is to lie and say, "No, we did not"?
Sin is not taught; it is in our nature and how we are born. The Bible tells us:
“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.” (Colossians 2:13)
If we take this bit by bit, we are dead because we are sinners, and we need our sinful nature to be cut away or washed away. God makes us alive through Christ because Christ forgives us of all of our sins. So, how does this happen? The good news of Christ Jesus.
Scripture says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
The Word (Christ) became flesh and lived among us; who came from the Father full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception) (John 1:14).
From the beginning, God had a plan to reconcile His creation, mankind, back to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. In order for our sins to be cut away, Jesus, who was free of deception and sinnless took on paying the price through the ultimate sacrifice of being brutally beaten and murdered on the cross. Jesus defeated sin and death when He came and walked the Earth, living a sinless life, and then rose from the dead.
Scripture affirms, “But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.” (Acts 2:24).
Praise God, “Where death, is your victory? Where death, is your sting?. (1 Corinthians 15:55).
Based on scripture, we know that Jesus is the answer to the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus himself says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).
Jesus is the only way for the forgiveness of our sins and restoration with God the Father. There is nothing that you or I could do to cut away or wash away our sins. We could never be “good enough” or do enough good things to make right or counterbalance our sins. Jesus is the only one who could and can do this for us. Again, it is worth repeating, there is nothing you or I could ever do to wipe ourselves clean from sin.
The Bible tells us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).
If you recall from our earlier question, what is faith? The answer is to believe.
Romans 10:9 says, “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
How beautiful. All we must do is believe and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead, and we are saved. Praise God.
If you have faith and believe and are ready to take the next step and declare Jesus as your Lord and Savior, do it now, and don’t let another second pass by without doing it.
